Cache Creek Casino

We've blocked off about 35 or so rooms at Cache Creek Casino for the evening of Saturday, June 19th, 2010, in preparation for out-of-town guests. When booking your room please reference the Harris/Cullen wedding. The casino is offering us a better price due to the fact that we've requested a block on so many rooms and we may be able to get a better price for anyone planning on staying for more than one night. If you know ahead of time that you'll be staying both Friday and Saturday night, please let one of us know so that we may work that out with the hotel. Cache Creek Casino offers dozens of ammentities, including spa treatments, a world class golf course, a multitude of restaurants, Friday night dancing and of course, gambling.

270 Days and Counting

Well, our original wedding date has come and gone, it's amazing to think that this might have all been over by now had we not gotten pregnant. Needless to say, we've re-upped our efforts in this whole wedding planning thing, as we both have a feeling that once little Zelly arrives there will be little to no time to plan much of anything! We've sent out an email requesting addresses and I believe we currently have quite a few. If we don't have yours, send it to either seth15c@hotmail.com or harris.gabrielle@gmail.com, please.
Save the date, June 19th, 2010, time to be determined! We are so excited to host our friends and family for our special day.

June Wedding Date Still Holding Strong

Well, as you all know, we are pregnant, the main reason for not getting married this September. The thought of being 8.5 months pregnant at my own wedding was just too daunting a task, really. On top of the fact that we figured more time would be best, as we want to host a fabulous day for you, our friends and family.
June 19th, 2010 is still our date, but be forewarned, with the new addition to our family, the festivities have been pared down considerably, but not the fun! Most likely we'll have a very minimal ceremony, early in the day, a full on picnic to follow, then games and dancing!
We are even more excited to see everyone now that we'll have a sweet baby girl to share our special day.

New Wedding Date

Hello wonderful friends and family. I'm sure most of you have heard from Seth or myself but I wanted to make the official announcement, Seth and I are postponing our wedding until Saturday, June 19th, 2010. There are several reasons as to why we've made this decision but the main reason is the fact that we just need more time to save and prepare for what we consider will be one of, if not, the best day our our lives, with all of you. All the location details remain the same, including lodging, so just look to next June as your destination time. It actually will be a better time anyways, especially since those interested in rafting Cache Creek will definitely be able to do so, the water will be high and rushing! We love and thank you all for your support!

San Francisco Bay Area: Destination Fun!

This post has been specially put together for our out-of-town guests who might decide to come into the Bay Area early for some sight-seeing.

September and October are the best months of the year in San Francisco. We have a gorgeous "Indian Summer." For some reason, the real Summer, you know, June, July, and August, tends to be cold and foggy. Please don't ask why, both Seth and Gabby stopped trying to understand this phenomena many years ago. Okay, so of course we'll be adding to this list of fun things in the bay the week of September 13th-20th, as the months roll along, but here are some main attractions

The Boy King  Returns to the De Young:  King Tut
**Gabby loves Egyptian artifacts and thinks this exhibit will be amazing!***

The San Francisco Giants will be playing a series of home games against the Colorado Rockies: 2009 Schedule
**Even if the Giant's aren't your favorite team, this ballpark is one of best in the league, definitley worth a day game in the bleachers for $10 bucks, Seth can vouch for this**

The Whales are Migrating: SF Whale Tours
**September is a good time to spot humpback whales(remember a couple of years ago when a mom and baby made it up to the Sacramento river??), blue whales and the sperm whale**

The Rock Alcatraz Island
**Gabby did this tour once, without the audio, and would recommend splurging on the headphones, it makes the experience all the more real.**

228 Days and Counting....More Pics of Taber Ranch

Here are more images of our location, TaberRanch

This place is so special, you wouldn't believe all the wildlife found on the 500-acre ranch. Besides the animals you DO NOT WANT TO STEP ON, such  the occiasonal rattlesnake(obviously my least favorite of the Taber Ranch Wildlife Association), also seen are deer, bobcats, egrets, blue heron, wild turkeys, California quail and bald eagles!

232 Days and Counting

According to The Knot Seth and I have 232 days until THE BIG DAY. Although it seems like a lot of time to plan, I have this feeling that it isn't.

Living the Northern California life is sometimes the equivalent to living in a bubble, but we love it. Seth's father Greg once said to me, "Well you two DO live in a National Park," and it's true, Marin County is one of the most beautiful places in the United States.

I'm hoping our out-of-town guests will be able and interested in spending some time in the Bay Area before the big to-do. I'll post some events occurring the week prior to the wedding, some hotels in the city, and the best options for air travel. Everyday gone is one closer to when we'll be seeing all your lovely faces!!

The History of Capay Valley

For all you history buffs reading this post, here's a little blurb about Capay Valley. Gabby grew about 30 minutes from this area, and when she was just 18 tried her hand at Black Jack at the Cache Creek Casino and felt very cool, and once, camped overnight along Cache Creek (a great place)

Wineries have been popping up alongside some organic farms and my personal favorite, there is white water rafting on the Cache Creek. Anyone coming from out of town may want to look into possibly doing some rafting the day of the wedding but please remember it will be September and the current 70 degree sunny days doesn't bode well for a great trip down the creek. However, you never know, there may still be water in September.

These are two things I would do in Capay Valley if I had the time, and since I'm the bride, I doubt I'll have it.

1. Check out Capay Valley Vineyards - Capay Valley Vineyards
2. Go rafting on Cache Creek - preferred site is being updated, will add link later

Okay, enough of my "expertise" and on to some real facts: Right from the Capay Valley Web Site:

The Cache Creek watershed was home for Native American tribes for centuries before the Capay Valley entered modern history, but these indigenous and nomadic people left little physical evidence of their way of life. In 1846 the government of Mexico granted lands in the Capay Valley to three Berryessa brothers, beginning the period of settlement. Portions of this land grant were sold to Americans beginning in the 1850s. In 1887 land speculators organized the Capay Valley Land Company in conjunction with the construction of the Vaca Valley and Clear Lake Railroad, and subsequently this company and others divided up areas of the valley into parcels to sell to potential fruit farmers. The railroad served the valley from 1888 until the 1930s, while the valley was developed into various agricultural uses.

All of western Yolo County's surface irrigation water supply passes through Cache Creek in the Capay Valley. Descending gradually from Lake County, the creek and its tributaries dominate the valley and have laid down varied alluvial soils and gravelly deposits. Mining of the gravel resources near Esparto over the last century has altered the native riparian environment there, and human activity in other parts of the valley has also changed the native vegetation, but many areas remain relatively pristine.

Wildlife abounds, particularly in the canyons, draws, and rangelands rising from the valley floor. Many varieties of birds inhabit or visit the area. Residents can frequently observe deer, skunks, rodents, and rattlesnakes; less often coyotes, opossums, beavers, and raccoon. Mountain lions and bear are present but rarely seen. Feral pigs have become a problem in recent years.

Regional population includes old-timers and retirees; conventional and organic farmers; hobby farmers and absentee landowners; small settlements of Mexican farm workers; and a number of residents committed to rural living while they commute to outside employment. The valley's main connection points are the post offices at Brooks, Guinda, and Rumsey; the fire stations; and the Brooks Mini-Mart. The unincorporated town of Esparto, which is the center of the unified school district, boasts a new (1999) branch of the Yolo County Library. Historic community halls in Rumsey and Guinda are currently undergoing renovation

Some Pics of Taber Ranch

I'll be posting many more pictures of this beautiful place, but these are two of my favorites, the first being the barn at night and the second being the road leading guest to Taber Ranch.

Who are the fabulous bride and groom??

This is sort of obvious and most people reading this blog will have known Seth or Gabby for many years and can recall when they wore embarrassing outfits, did funny things, learned life's lessons and all that other stuff that comes with the territory of growing up. But for those who we may have just added to our circle, those who we haven't seen in some time but still love, this post is a little peek into the life of Seth and Gabby RIGHT NOW!!

Seth is a Senior Staff Accountant for Tavistock Restaurants
Both Gabby and Seth are thrilled the floundering economy still has a need for accountants

Gabby is an Account Executive/Freelance PR specialist who, due to the spiraling decline of the U.S. economy, was laid off on January 19th and will be available for a new job on March 1st....spread the news. Her current companies are Hamilton Ink PR and Marin Brewing Company

Seth and Gabby live in San Rafael, CA, a great community about 15 minutes away from San Francisco, if you drive fast, which Seth usually does.

They have two cats, Mea, a 9 year old tabby who managed to survive Gabby's college career at University of California, Davis, and Oscar, an 8th month old tiger terror who is really cute and loves to cuddle; when he isn't eating something he's found on the ground.

When is this fabulous wedding?

When and where is this fabulous event?

We will be getting married on Saturday, September 19th, 2009  around 5pm. Details surrounding times will follow in a future post. We are getting married in the beautiful Capay Valley, at Taber Ranch

Guest Lodging: (there will be many many more updates with all this information)

It is about three miles away from the super awesome Cache Creek Casino and Resort, where we have already blocked off 30 rooms, more can be blocked off if necessary Cache Creek Casino

There is also the lovely Capay Valley B&B

Off the beaten path but still great is Abbey House

The First Post

01/28/09

Here it is, officially, post #1 of Seth and Gabby's Wedding Adventures Tour - sounds like a travel agent, right??? Well, we've got a lot to do and not a lot of money to do it with. At press time I am facing down unemployment, because as of March 1, yes that's right, March 1 I will be without a full time position! I've never been laid off before and it's downright freaky, scary, place your favoritee adjective here, so we intend to keep a positive attitude and try to throw a smashing good time for very little. With our friends and families by our side, I have no doubt this will be a fantastic wedding.

Details on the the location, date and sleeping arrangements to follow, as will a menu, registry and airport info, once I get organized. Those VIP details will all be here for our lovely guest-to-be to read to their hearts content.

If you want our updates to be emailed to you, just press "follow this blog" on the home page and Viola!!!  You vill be ours!
